Ragan was asked by a fellow peer, Olivia Leenhouts, at High Point University if she would direct her final student work before Olivia graduate from HPU. Ragan and Olivia through the theatre department, reached out to Dr. Lootens who's a psychology professor at High Point University. Dr. Lootens gave Ragan so much research to look and gave advice on how to go about this piece without being discriminatory towards those who have schizophrenia.
Synopsis: A young man (Sam) and woman (Tilda) build a low keyed paradise of happiness within an asylum, only to have it shattered by the intrusion of the outside world. The two characters search, at times agonizingly, to determine the difference between illusion and reality. The effort is lightened by moments of shared love and "pretend" games, like decorating Christmas trees that are not really there. The theme of love, vulnerable to the surveillances of the asylum, and the ministrations of the psychiatrist, a non-speaking part seems as fragile in the constrained setting as it often is in the outside world.
